Gringley On The Hill is an attractive village of red-bricked farms, barn, cottages and dovecotes is perched on a 250 ft high hill and has good views over the surrounding countryside. Beacon Hill is the site of a pre-historic fort.
The Blue Bell at Gringley on the Hill is a traditional country pub, around 300 years old. New landlords 2001. Well kept real ales include John Smiths, Timothy Taylors Landlord, Adnams Broadside and two guest ales. Closed week day lunchtimes. Separate no smoking restaurant called The Buttercross at the rear with good views serving good value home cooked foods. Tradditional Sunday Lunch £6.95. Children welcome. Beer garden.
