Farnsfield is a large village on the road between Southwell and Mansfield. There are a few shops in the center. Traces of a Roman camp have been found at Farnsfield. The birthplace of Augustus Charles Gregory, the first man to explore the interior of Australia and earned him the name Protector of the Aborigines.
The magnificent Victorian church was built in 1869 by T C Hine with the base of the tower dating to the early 15th century.
Three miles west of Farnsfield near the junction with the A614 is White Post Modern Farm Centre, Farnsfield NG22 8HL. A firm favorite with families. Indoor and outdoor displays.
