The town of Worksop was once described as 'the gateway to the Dukeries'. It is situated on the river Ryton on the edge of the Midlands coalfield. Although now heavily industrialized there still remains some places of interest in and around the town. There is an attractive and impressive 14th century gatehouse of the former priory of Radford in the town.
