Originally a farming villageand in the 19th century a frame knitting village, Woodborough has in recent years expanded with modern houses built for Nottingham commuters. Interestingly, the village was the birthplace of the Rev. William Lee who invented the Stocking Knitting machine while curate of Calverton. Some fine examples of frame knitting cottages remain. The Old mill at Dover Beck was known to be a corn mill in the early 18th century.
Four Bells at Woodborough has been extensively modernised with good taste. The pub has a friendly, lively atmosphere and sells a good range of well kept beers and food. Worth a visit.
