East Retford is an ancient market town on the Great North road who's charter dates back to Henry III charter in 1246. The town is split into two by the river Idle to give East and West Retford.
The Albert Hotel at East Retford is a lively, cask maque pub.
''The atmosphere over the Christmas period was fabulous, and you''ll not find a better Sunday dinner for their prices. Although the pub offers accommodation this is of a basic nature and not ideal for couples or families! Some of the rooms can be noisy.
Te Rum Runner at Retford was opened in 2001 and formerly called The Ship (still there on the fron of the pub!). Stone floor in front bar with carpeted lounge area in back. Lively pub with a good atmosphere and freindly staff. 5 real ales on at anytime. Broadstone Two Water Grog brewed only for the Rum Runner and Timothy Taylor Landlord are on all the time. The other three beers are guest from micro breweries. Food is served daily with a 24 seat resturant open Thurs Fri & Sat evenings. Broadstone Brewery is situated in outbuildings at the rear of the premises and can be viewed from the lounge area of the pub. (K.K.)
