A pretty Trentside village between Southwell and Lowdham now encroached on its eastern side by gravel lakes. Despite this industrialization there are fine wildlife walks in the area. Nearby is Notts County Sailing Club and on Sundays during the winter and most days during the summer you can see a range of dinghies and windsurfers sailing on the two gravel lakes.
The Reindeer at Hoveringham is a small but interesting village pub with lots of atmosphere with exposed wooden beams. A small selection of real ales and the landlord is making a real effort to serve high quality good value food. Straightforward Nottinghamshire Pub. Well worth a visit.
