Stamford
Stamford is a beautiful medieval town close to the A1 mostly
dating back to the 17th and 18th century built of mellow golden
stone. Untouched by the Industrial Revolution it was given the
status of the first conservation area in England. With 5 medieval
churches, a 15th century hospital and a 12th century priory,
there is much to see here. It is town to quietly explore with
its small squares, cobbled streets and historic pubs and inns.
The George, once a coaching Inn on the Great North Road is of
particular note. On the edge of the town is Burghley House the
largest and grandest house of Elizabethan times. It is famous
for its annual horse trials.
Places of Interest

Casterton, Stamford, PE9 4BH telephone 01780 754381 performs
