Wardlow Mires
Restored two roomed stone farmhouse pub, with
flagged foors. Good value food, including game in
season. Serves good value real ales and Guinness
only. No keg beers or lagers!. Interesting range
of seasonal food. Often not open mid-week. Despite
being unpretentious - if not unattractive on the
outside, this pub is full of character and well
worth a visit.

Wardlow
The small village
of Wardlow with a population now under 100 is approximately 8 miles
North of Bakewell on the B6465 and 3 miles from Tideswell. It was
formerly a farming and lead mining village, part of the Chatsworth
estate. The church of the Good Shepherd was built in 1872 in the
Gothic style. In 1816, Opposite the Three Stags Head pub is St Peter's
Stone or Gibbet Rock. This is where, in 1816, Anthony Lingard was
gibbeted. This was the last public gibbeting in Derbyshire.
