Sawley
The village of
Sawley is South of Derby on the south east edge of the county on
the side of the river Trent. The present church dated back to Saxon
times but there is thought to have been a church on the site since
800AD. The lace trade started in Sawley before expanding to Long
Eaton and Nottingham. 'Flossing', a type of embroidery on lace was
native to the village.
