Over Haddon
Comfortable hotel with superb views over Lathkill
Dale nature reserve. It was originally known as
the Miners Arms and there has been a pub on the
site for hundreds of years. Good value, home cooked
bar food and reasonable range of real ales. There
is a family dining area, open lunchtimes. Can be
busy in the summer. Walkers welcome.

Over Haddon
The small
village of Over Haddon is situated 2 miles South East of Bakewell.
Lead mining has been carried out in the area until at least as
far back as Roman times. Some of the working were over 300 feet
deep. In 1854 a small quantity of gold was found and this led
to a gold rush with hundreds of prospectors rushing to the area.
There was even talk of a railway between Over Haddon and Bakewell.
Little gold was actually found and the company formed to exploit
the findings quickly went banckrupt!
