Duffield

Duffield dates back to the 12th century. Duffield is an interesting village on the A6 north of Derby. It was mentioned in the Domesday Book as Duffield in Ashfield in 1086 and the parish church of St Alkmund. The village is by the side of the railway and was once know as a 'Top Hat' village as several of the railway hierarchy lived in the village. Cottages were also built for railway workers.
